The Countdown Begins!

Only 10 more days until I pass on the crown to Mrs. Washington 2011! As I prepare to wrap up my reign, I realize that our journey as a family is just beginning in continuing to reach out to families with Special Needs. My son Kenny, as stated in an earlier post, will be representing the States of Washington & Oregon at the National Tourette Syndrome (TS) Association Youth Ambassador/ Leadership Training which will be held in Washington D.C. at the end of this month. I too will get training as his parent which is so appropriate being that Kenny and I started a Tourette/Autism Support Group at Life Center Church in Tacoma (see link above). We also plan on visiting schools in the next year educating teachers on how to implement programs for students with TS, parents how to advocate for their children and students how to both cope if challenged with a disability and practice empathy to fellow students who have a disability.

As a result, I am considering continuing on with my blog to document our journey in hopes to continue to offer encouragement, hope and resources to families with Special Needs. To those of you that have followed my blog this last year, thank you for your support and I pray your life was touched! So enjoy my last 10 days of posting - as I am not done making appearances yet - still more work to be done as Mrs. Washington 2010!
